Privacy Notice

Legal pages are published in English. Updated 2 October 2026.

Who we are

LiFERER is operated by JaydenART® Tech Inc. from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. This notice explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the LiFERER website, the installable web app, and the LiFERER apps for Android and iOS.

Questions or requests: privacy@liferer.com.

What we collect

You can browse LiFERER without an account. Browsing is anonymous. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

  • Location, only when you ask. Nothing is read until you tap “Use my location”. Your position is then kept in your browser for up to 24 hours and used on your device to sort places by distance. It is also sent to our servers when the app needs it to answer you: to list the places near you, to show the weather, prayer times and places of worship for where you are, to name a stop in Where I’ve Been, and to work out directions (Navigate, Walk Me There, Take Me Back, Take Me Home). For directions, your position and the destination go on from our server to a routing service, which works out the way and sends it back. What stays on our servers from these requests: a route, with its start and end, is held in a temporary store so that the same question is not asked twice. It stops being used after ten minutes and is deleted when that store is next cleared. The weather for an area is held the same way, by area and not by person. Requests also appear in the technical logs described below with your IP address. The current app sends precise positions for nearby lookups and directions in the request body rather than the request address. Older app versions may still put positions in the address, where access logs record them. Other hosting or security systems may also record request details; we are confirming their handling with our provider. None of this is added to your account. Public lookup results, which can include positions and routes, may also be saved on your device for offline use. The app reuses these saved lookups for up to 24 hours; expired copies are removed when its cache is next cleaned. Two features keep a rough area, to about 11 km: the steps boards keep it with your account so that “nearby” can work, and the waiting list for a new area keeps it with your request. You can switch back to the city centre at any time.
  • Preferences on your device. Your language, appearance (light or dark), remembered location, saved places, and where you parked (with your note and a photo if you add one, kept for up to 3 days) are stored in your browser’s local storage so the app works offline and loads instantly. They never leave your device unless you create an account and choose to sync.
  • Spending books. The spending tracker keeps your books in your browser, on your device, where we cannot see them. If you choose to share a book, that one book (its entries, subscriptions, tags, budget and receipts) is stored on our servers so the people you invite see the same pages. Sign-in details you keep with a subscription are never uploaded. The owner can stop sharing at any time, which deletes our copy; a member who leaves has the book removed from their device.
  • Receipt reading. If you ask the spending tracker to read a receipt, that one photo is sent to our server and to an AI service we use, only to be read. It is not kept by us once read; the photo itself stays with the entry on your device.
  • Accounts, when you create one. Email address or phone number, display name, saved places, reviews and corrections you submit, and merchant details if you claim a place.
  • Payments. Purchases, bookings and tickets are processed by licensed payment providers. We never see or store card numbers. We keep the order record (what, when, how much) for accounting and support.
  • Arrival points, with your consent. If you allow anonymous usage statistics, the spot where you save a parked car, where a visit comes to a stop, and where a trip you navigated ends are sent to us as plain points on the map, with no account, device or request address attached. We read them in bulk to learn where buildings are really entered and where people are really dropped off. A reading rougher than about 80 metres is not sent.
  • Rain reports and searches. When you tap “raining” or “dry”, we store the time and a location rounded to about 100 metres, never who you are. Search words are counted so suggestions improve; they are not linked to you.
  • Technical logs. Our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, the address of each request, browser type) for security and reliability, retained for a limited period. If an older app version puts your position in the request address, it is recorded in the access log with it. Sending a position in the request body avoids that URL entry but does not by itself prevent other hosting or security logs from recording request details.

Why we use it, and the legal basis

  • To run the service you asked for (contract): accounts, saved places, bookings, orders, merchant pages.
  • With your consent: device location, notifications, and marketing messages if you opt in. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests: security, fraud prevention, moderation of reviews and corrections, and improving the service using aggregated, non-identifying statistics.
  • Legal obligations: tax and accounting records for payments, and responding to lawful requests.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We share data with providers who process it on our instructions under written agreements: our hosting and database providers (data stored in Singapore and Malaysia), payment providers and email delivery. The app also relies on public services that work without an agreement with us and receive only what a request needs. A map service sends the map pictures straight to your browser, so it sees your IP address and which part of the map you are looking at. A weather service receives, from our server, a position rounded to about 5 km. A community-run routing service receives, from our server, the start and end of a route you asked for.

Merchants see the contact details you choose to give them when you book, order or message. Reviews and corrections are public under the display name you choose.

Your rights

Wherever you are, you can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to give you a copy in a portable format, and to stop or limit certain uses. Write to privacy@liferer.com. We verify requests and respond within 21 days.

  • Malaysia (PDPA 2010). You have the rights of access, correction, and withdrawal of consent, and to limit processing. Our notice is provided in English and Bahasa Malaysia on request.
  • European Economic Area and United Kingdom (GDPR, UK GDPR). You may also object to processing based on legitimate interests, request restriction, and lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
  • California (CCPA/CPRA). You have the right to know, delete, and correct, and to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA, and we do not use sensitive personal information for anything beyond providing the service. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. Authorised agents may submit requests on your behalf with proof of authority.

Your privacy choices

  • Location: tap “Back to city centre” in the app to forget your location, or revoke location permission in your browser or phone settings.
  • Saved data on this device: clear site data in your browser, or uninstall the app, to remove all local preferences.
  • Do not sell or share: we do not sell or share personal information. If that ever changes, an opt-out control will appear here first and no data will be sold or shared before you have had the choice.
  • Marketing: every message we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you can change preferences in your account.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept while your account is active and deleted within 30 days of a deletion request, except records we must keep by law (for example payment and tax records, kept for seven years). Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period, which it sets. Aggregated statistics that cannot identify you may be kept indefinitely.

Security and transfers

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is limited to staff and processors who need it. Our servers are in Singapore and Malaysia; where data moves across borders we rely on contractual safeguards recognised under the applicable law.

Children

LiFERER is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided data to us, contact privacy@liferer.com and we will delete it.

Changes to this notice

We will post any changes here and update the date at the top. For material changes we will also notify account holders by email or in the app before they take effect.
